Appeared in 1934 as a civil plane, it was the protagonist of famous flies , as the Istres-Damasco-Paris race and the Roma-Rio de Janeiro race, accomplished by the famous Sorci Verdi (green mouses). During the war it accomplished some of the most hard missions in the varios theathers. Especially it ´s remembered for the torpedoing actions made by the 132° Gruppo A.S. , led by capitain Buscaglia, during 1941 - 42 period. For example, the SM 79 actions led to the sunking of Husky, Jaguar, Kujavik II, Southwall destroyers and the heavy damaging of the Malaya battleship and Indomitable, Victorious , Eagle carriers. |
