Biplane fighter (CR.32) |
Designed by Celestino Rosateli as the new fighter plane of Regia Aeronautica, the FIAT CR.30 was a fast, elegant and efficient plane, that got approvations and was built in 176 exemplars from the start. Only one year after the first flight, on 22 April 1933, flew its development, the CR.32, with smaller dimensions, a better balancement and more aerodynamical lines. This model took place briefly on the previous, and was also sell in 180 exemplars to foreign countries. The CR-32 was also employed, with good results, in the Spanish civil war and in China. In these theatres, the plane demonstrated to be one of the best biplanes in the world, even if these results took Regia Aeronautica to the further development of this formula, even if it was surpassed by monoplane structure. During the Second World War, the plane was used as a trainer, while in Spain it remained in service as the HA 132L (it was built on license) with aerobatics training purposes until 1953. |
