Fieseler FI156 Storch
Plane type & model Observation/recon plane (Fi156C-2) Selected to gave German Army forces a plane with short takeoff and landing capabilities, the Storch was a superb plane, so that even some captured exemplars were used by RAF on the Mediterranean. During and after the war the plane was also built on license by France (Morane-Saulnier) and by Cekoslovakia (Mraz). With an high wing profile, an extended system of flaps, a sturdy bycicle gear system and a large cockpit, the Storch could , with a 13 km/h wind against it, take off in 50m and land in 15m! Thanks to these astounding capabilities, it was largely used in linking, transport of officers, medevac , observation and recon, infiltration in enemy lines.
