|
||
| Plane type & model | Monoplane fighter | The Fokker D XXI was an advanced plane for its time. Low winged monoplane, with aerodynamic landing gear and closed cockpit, it was commissioned in a prototype exemplar by Dutch Army in 1935, for evalutation purposes. After a beginning lack of interest, in 1937 there were an issue about 36 exemplars of the plane. The same year Finland too adopted the Fokker fighter, taking 7 planes and the license for other 93 planes. Rapidly surclassed by German fighters in 1940, the D XXI gave good exploits in Finnish hands, that fought against russian planes in 1940 and then in 1941 until 1944. |
