The more diffused medium bomber in Germany when the war began was the Do 17, a monoplane with medium-high wing , and the crew of 4 people was concentrated in the nose. The standar bombing version was the Do17Z-2, that equipped 4 Kampfgeschwader and more other Kampfgruppen during the first year of war and that partecipated extensively in the battle of France and Britain. It had average performances, with a small horsepower capacity. At the end of 1940 , judged obsolete as a bomber, it was designed to other roles. |
