Final derivation of the Do 17, the Do 317 was projected to fullfil a specify about an heavy- high quote bomber capable of high speeds and to attack every point on England from airfields in France; It had 2 DB 604 24 cylinder engines (1984 kW / 2696 CV). In 1940 a pressurized prototype (Do 317V1) was completed and it was followed by 5 non-pressurized prototypes designated Do 217R; these planes became operqatie with the III / KG 40 at the end of 1944. Each plane carried a radiocomanded rocked-propelled bomb Hs 293. No series production was made. |
