| Plane type & model | Recon bomber (FW200C-3/U-4) | Developed as a passenger plane for Lufthansa, the Condor was, before the war, the best long range line plane. Powered by 4 Pratt & Whitney engines, the plane could carry up to 26 people. In 1938 the prototype FW-200S-1 Brandeburg flew between Berlin to New York without intermediate landings in less than 25 hours. During the war the Condor was employed as a transport, recon and bomber mainly by KG 40. The FW-200C-6 and C-8 versions were dotated with a radar and with guided missles to anti-naval purposes. |
