| Plane type & model | Recon seaplane bomber (H8K2) | After had realized the H6K seaplane, in 1938 the Kawanishi was ordered by the Imperial Japanese Navy to realize a new seaplane with major performances. The result was the H8K1 ,with an high wing, big fuselage, good armor and long range. At the end of 1941 the veichle was put in series production and entered service in 1942, recieving the american codename of Emily . It was employed in bombing, recon and transport missions and was very appreciated for its good characteristics, that it´s even today considerated one of the best seaplanes ever built. |
