| Plane type & model | Medium jet bomber (AR 234 B2) | High-winged bimotor, the Ar 23 was the first jet bomber in the world to enter operative status. Based on a radical aspect , it had aa trycicle-retractile landing gear , and it had an ejectable seat for the pilot. The first recon version Ar 234B-1, which had up to 4 photo cameras, appeared in June 1944, followed by Ar 234B-2 bombing version that , built with a 3-axis autopilot and BZA bombing calculator, could carry up to 2000 Kg of bombs. The bombing version flew its active duty missions with elements of KG 76 during the Ardennes campaign (Dec 1944). |
