Kawanishi N1K Shiden
Plane type & model Monoplane fighter (N1K2-J) At the end of 1941 the Kawanishi began the developing of a terrestrial version of its good seaplane fighter N1K Kyofu , already ordered by Japanese Imperial Navy. The new Shiden fighter was not presented succesfully, but after the resolution of some initial problems at the end of 1943 it was autorized its series production as N1K1-J. The plane , named George by the allies, had some problems as the difficult landing gear mechanisms. So in 1943 began the study on N1K2-J, a plane similar to the other but significantly redesigned at the root. The Kawanishi N1K2-J flew on 31 December 1943 and demonstrated to be an excellent fighter, but it was built only in 415 exemplars befre the end of the War.
